HOTEL REPUBLIKA was founded by the Croatian Hunting Association as an interesting commercial addition to their usual activities as the national umbrella association of hunters and hunting societies. Hotel Republika is situated right next to the Croatian Hunting Association headquarters and Hunting Museum. This “hunting” background is present in the interior decor of the Hotel through the artwork of Ana Barbić Katičić, a renowned Croatian artist.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME
Historical surroundings of the street, its residents, and the hill where the Hotel is situated imposes the name Hotel Republika and its monogram HR (CRO). The street is named after Vladimir Nazor, a Croatian poet and politician who served as the first President of the Presidium of the Croatian Parliament. Also, right next door to the Hotel there is a house of the first president of the Republic of Croatia, Franjo Tuđman, which leads us to the origin of the name.
